How it works
Trade value isn't team value.
Most fantasy football trade calculators tell you who wins a trade on paper. Fantasy Trade Hero also tells you whether your team gets better, using your league's scoring, your roster and your starting lineup.
What makes it different
It knows your lineup
We build your best starting lineup before and after the trade and show the change in projected points per week. If a trade leaves you without a starting running back, you'll hear about it, even when the value looks good on paper.
It scores players your way
Values come from stat projections scored with your league's exact rules: points per reception, 6-point passing touchdowns, TE premium, first downs, kicker distance and defense tiers. No generic PPR or Standard toggle.
It values scarcity in your league
A player's value is how far he outscores the best player you could pick up instead, given your team count and lineup slots. That's why Superflex quarterbacks and deep-league running backs move the way they should.
It's honest about close calls
Trades within 3% are called essentially even, because projections can't separate them. You see the reasons behind every verdict, and whether the projection sources agree.
It finds fair counteroffers from real rosters
When a trade is lopsided, we suggest players from your trade partner's actual roster (or yours) that would even it out, skipping anyone whose loss would leave either team with a hole.

How to use the trade calculator
Set up your league
Connect a Sleeper or Yahoo league to import scoring, lineup slots and every roster, or set the format by hand under Edit league settings. No league? Enter your roster to get the lineup check anyway.
Add the trade
Search for the players (and, in dynasty, draft picks) you'd give and get. With a league connected, the search shows your roster on one side and your trade partner's on the other.
Read the verdict
The headline number is the value you'd gain or lose. The scale shows how lopsided the trade is, and the recommendation tells you what to do about it.
Check value to your team
See how your starting lineup changes, position by position. A trade that wins on value but opens a hole in your lineup is downgraded with an explanation.
Even it out
If the trade is lopsided, pick a suggested add from the balancing panel, filter by position, and share the link: every trade lives in the URL.
How to read the results
Value
Every player gets a value on one scale for your league, where the most valuable player is about 100. A value of 50 is worth roughly half as much, not half the points: the scale grows faster than points, so one star is worth more than two average starters. Players who wouldn't start for anyone in your league are worth close to 0.
Side totals
Extra players take roster spots and rarely replace a starter one for one, so each additional player on a side counts a little less (100%, 90%, 80%, 70%, then 60%). Getting players worth 25 and 20 for one worth 40 totals 43, not 45.
The verdict
The verdict compares the two sides as a percentage of the bigger one. Small gaps under 3 value points are always even.
Example: you give 50 and get 54.
| Verdict | Value change |
|---|---|
| Strongly favorable | +15% or more |
| Favorable | +7% to +15% |
| Slightly favorable | +3% to +7% |
| Essentially even | -3% to +3% |
| Slightly unfavorable | -7% to -3% |
| Unfavorable | -15% to -7% |
| Strongly unfavorable | below -15% |
The recommendation
- Accept
- You gain at least 7% in value and your lineup holds up.
- Fair trade
- Between 3% behind and 7% ahead, or a value win that makes your starting lineup meaningfully weaker.
- Ask for more
- You're slightly behind, or the trade leaves a hole in your lineup. Use the balancing suggestions.
- Decline
- You give up 7% or more in value.
Value to your team
With your roster entered or imported, we show your best weekly starting lineup before and after the trade, the change in projected points per week, which positions get stronger or weaker, and any starting spot you can no longer fill.
Trade finder
With a league connected, the trade finder tries one-for-one, two-for-one and one-for-two swaps between your roster and every other team's, and keeps only trades that are close in value, improve your starting lineup, don't weaken theirs, and leave nobody with an empty starting spot. Tell it which positions you want to get and which you're willing to trade, and it lists the trades that improve your lineup the most first. Pick one to load it into the calculator.
Buy low, sell high
With a league connected, we compare each player's value in your settings today with two weeks ago. Your players who jumped are sell-high candidates; starters on other teams who dropped are buy-low candidates. A drop usually has a reason, so check the news first.
Market check
Next to our verdict we show how the trade market sees the same trade, using FantasyCalc's values built from real trades in your format. When projections favor you but the market calls it even, it's a fair-looking offer that still helps you; when the market favors you, expect your league-mate to push back.
Would they accept?
With a league connected and a trade partner chosen, we run the same checks from their side: the value they gain or lose and how their starting lineup changes. A trade that costs them a little value but fills a hole in their lineup is often worth pitching; one that leaves them without a starter rarely gets accepted.
Momentum
Projections change every day with injuries, depth charts and matchups. We save each day's projections and re-value your trade on every one of them, with your league's settings. Momentum is how much the gap has moved over the last week, in percentage points: +5% means the trade has swung 5 points in your favor. The chart shows up to 30 days, and the biggest movers are named. If a trade you like is moving against you, waiting could cost you; if it's moving your way, there's less rush.
The method, for the curious
- Projections. We take each player's projected stats for the rest of the season, the sum of his remaining weekly projections, so bye weeks and injuries count. Before the season, full-season projections are used.
- Your scoring. Each stat is multiplied by your league's points for it. With more than one projection source selected, we average them.
- League-wide starters. We fill every team's lineup across the league: dedicated slots first, then flex, then superflex. In a 12-team league with 2 RB slots and a flex, around 30 running backs start.
- Replacement level. The average of the next three players at each position after the starters: the kind of player you can find on waivers or a bench.
- Value over replacement. Points above that level, scaled so the best player is about 97, with up to 3 more for useful depth.
- Playoff weighting (optional). Turn on “Count double” for the fantasy playoff weeks (15–17) and those weeks' projected points count twice, favoring players with good playoff matchups and no late byes.
- Dynasty. Adds four future seasons. Each year counts less depending on whether you're winning now or rebuilding, and production follows position-specific age curves (running backs decline earliest, quarterbacks latest). Rookie picks are valued against players.
What it doesn't know
- What your league-mates think. Values reflect projected production, not the trade market, so a fair trade by the numbers may still be a hard sell.
- News since the last update. Projections refresh daily and on Sunday mornings.
- Your playoff schedule, roster locks or league politics. Use the verdict as one strong input, not the final word.
Frequently asked questions
Is the trade calculator free?
Yes. There's no account, no paywall and no limit on trades. Connecting a Sleeper league needs only your username; Yahoo uses Yahoo's own sign-in.
Which leagues and formats does it support?
Redraft and dynasty, PPR, half-PPR and standard, 1QB and Superflex, 4 to 32 teams, and custom scoring such as 6-point passing touchdowns or a TE premium. You can import Sleeper and Yahoo leagues or enter your settings by hand.
Why are its values different from other trade calculators?
Most trade value charts reflect market opinion: crowdsourced votes, real trades or expert rankings, adjusted for a handful of formats. Ours starts from stat projections and scores them with your league's exact rules, so values change with your scoring, team count and lineup slots. Market charts tell you what people will accept; ours tells you what helps your team. The market check shows both side by side, which is the best negotiating position.
Why is a top quarterback valued lower than I expected?
In 1QB leagues, most teams can start a good quarterback, so the gap between a great QB and the replacement-level QB is smaller than at running back or wide receiver. Value measures that gap. Switch to Superflex and quarterbacks jump, because twice as many start.
What is trade momentum?
Momentum shows whether a trade's gap is growing or shrinking. We keep a copy of every day's projections and re-value your trade on each day with your league settings, so you can see if the deal has been moving in your favor or against you over the last week, and which players are driving it.
Which players' trade values are rising or falling?
The risers and fallers page lists the biggest value changes over the last week or month, for PPR, half-PPR, standard, Superflex and dynasty formats. Each player page also shows that player's value trend in your own league settings.
How often are values updated?
Player data and projections refresh every morning, and projections refresh again on Sunday mornings after the final injury news. During the season, values use rest-of-season projections, so injuries and byes are already reflected.
Does it work for dynasty?
Yes. Dynasty values add four future seasons, adjusted by position-specific age curves and by whether you're contending or rebuilding. Rookie draft picks are included and valued against players.
Is it safe to connect my Yahoo account?
Yahoo sign-in happens on Yahoo's site, and we only request read access to fantasy data. Your Yahoo password never reaches us, the access token is stored encrypted in your own browser, and you can sign out at any time.
